The Cabot presents new works by Beverly artist and art therapist Sara Roizen. Now on display in the front room of The Cabot are nearly 100 of Roizen’s Vinyl Record Mandalas – eclectically painted, previously discarded vinyl records. There will be wine, beer, food, a turntable, and nearly 100 new vinyl record mandalas! Roizen says of the work: Old scratched up records end their musical journey as they become dormant and unplayable. My vinyl record mandalas pick up where the stunted life of a discarded record leaves off, imbuing them with new energy and purpose.
These acrylic paintings on vinyl are mandalas – a Sanskrit word that means ‘sacred art within a circle.’ Each vinyl record mandala is a visual meditation reflective of the time of its creation.
Come celebrate the merging of music and painting at the public reception!
